Man on Wire - 8/7/74
The Dugout on progressiveboink has been hacked, or whatever happens when you go to the page and bad things happen to your computer. Sad. I removed the link from my links list, and hopefully my computer will be okay.
Canonical panties!
Since I updated Itunes, it will no longer read a lot of (most of) my music. Short of re-adding every piece of music on there, what can I do?
Keep it up, Yankees!
Yaaaaaaaaaaay, CC!
That's one!
The Yankees win! Melky hits! That's TWO!
World Series-bound!
Baseball! Baseball! Baseball!
World Series fever!
And tomorrow night, my Darth Yankee icon becomes relevant once more!
Let's go, Yankees!
Sometimes I wish I were as unprofessional as the people around me. Like my staff member who gave her notice at the beginning of the month and has called in sick seven times since then. And rolled in today at 10:45 and took lunch at 1.
I would like to tell her what I think of her. Loudly and explicitly.
Instead I will bide my time 'til she is gone and go about the business of cleaning up after her.
I am loving the Kennedy Center Honors! Dave Brubeck's smile is making me laugh and cry. So much great stuff!
I love this show!
I also love the idea that Claire & Mitch both made out with the same guy in high school... That's crazy hot, for some reason!
(elbomac) is drunk on the LIRR
I am really enjoying the new season of Southland, but I really want Cooper to have a happy ending.
It's been a while.
Happy that baseball is back. I got a Kindle and am currently obsessed with gay werewolves. Elton John is terrible on Saturday Night Live. Work is kicking my ass. Xanax is wonderful. I just ate whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce, sausage, and kale. Kale is overtaking brussels sprouts as my favorite vegetable. The Minimalist on The Cooking Channel is great. I need to do spring cleaning but am not motivated in any way to start. I think I have cooked enough this weekend to have great lunches for the whole week.
Woken up on a desperately-needed day off by a phone call from work. Not just a phone call from work, but a direct-to-my-personal-cell-phone call from a client. Which means someone on my staff has given my personal phone number out to at least one client. I am so filled with rage (not how I wanted to feel today) that I can barely contain myself.
I woke up at 6 a.m. ruminating about work. What a start to the three-day weekend. :( Random new med regimen left me uncertain about when I could actually take the 1/4 xanax I wanted to help me fall back asleep, so I've been up ever since.
I sent several emails to myself at work so I would remember what I need to do next week and hopefully get this stuff off my mind. I placed a FreshDirect order and cleaned out my fridge. I rehung the blinds that randomly fell down last week. I organized my laundry so I can hopefully bang that out pretty quickly this morning and be lazy the rest of the day. Maybe a nap is in my future?
I have also been downloading tons of stories from AoOO to my Kindle, which I will take to the beach at some point this weekend! Hurray! Sad though that so little of Supernatural Fandom seems to be on AoOO. I was reviewing the Epic Dean/Cas AU Rec List but all these epics seem to be like, 50 LJ pages and I cannot face putting them all into a word document and converting them. My wrists and forearms ache at the thought. Some other day when I am feeling more ambitious, perhaps.
So I did ALL the laundry, changed the sheets, took a nap, ate a salad, and am watching the Yankees game.
Tomorrow, the beach!
Today was not super beach weather, but it was lovely to sit out for a few hours in the sun and read, even if we were pretty bundled up. V. relaxing, nice conversation, an early dinner out, and now heading back home. A good day.
Nothing like a little plumbing emergency. Thank goodness for the on-call super!
And way to go, Bartolo Colon!
I have been successfully reading livejournal/dreamwidth, among other websites) on my blackberry for the past two years (I don't get internet access of any kind at work). I recently got a new blackberry and haven't quite optimized the browser yet, but had successfully logged in to livejournal and was able to read my friends page.
However, last night I opened the browser on my phone and found myself logged in as someone else, able to read that person's f-locked entries! I logged out but now am totally paranoid about security and what this means. Does anyone have any idea?
Hurray, New York! Hurray!
Gay marriage is legal in NYS!
This morning I took advantage of the rainy weather and a rare cleaning impulse to tackle a task I've needed to to for a while. I packed four (small) boxes full of fanfiction printouts. I pulled the top sheet from each story, and now have a tidy pile next to my computer of stuff that I want to find and load onto my Kindle. The rest of the paper will go to be recycled. Yay!
I slept through the worst of Irene, though I did pack up my go bag when they started announcing tornado warnings last night. Never lost power and things are totally calm now. My family on LI, on the other hand, have not had power all day today.
Now I am trying not to worry about how I will get to work tomorrow.
Happy that the weather seems to be lovely in Baltimore, as it means I can watch the Yankees instead of the news.
W. 45th Street is a fan's paradise right now - Alan Rickman, Daniel Radcliffe, and Paul Gross literally within steps of each other.
I have tickets to Seminar this week!
